Manufacturing Process

1. Acrylic Sheet Production: The base material for these sheets is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), which is formed either by extrusion or casting to create clear acrylic sheets.

2. Metallic Coating: One side of the acrylic sheet is coated with a reflective metallic material, typically aluminum. This is achieved through a process called sputtering or vacuum metallization, where metal atoms are deposited onto the acrylic surface in a vacuum chamber.

3. Protective Coating: After metallization, a protective coating is often applied over the reflective surface to prevent scratching and oxidation of the metallic layer. This coating can be clear and hard, designed to preserve the mirror finish.

4. Adhesive Layer and Release Liner: On the non-mirrored side of the sheet, an adhesive layer is applied. This adhesive is usually covered by a release liner, which protects the adhesive until it is ready to be used.
   

   Properties

   • Lightweight and Shatter-resistant: Unlike glass mirrors, acrylic mirrors are much lighter and won't shatter, making them safer and easier to handle and install.
